Mamba EBX-37 dual-core computer. The Mamba can be quickly distinguished from the Cobra EBX-12 by its larger CPU heatsink and by the presence of 6 onboard USB ports.

Versalogic part number for standard temperature version is VL-EBX-37-S (older models) or VL-EBX-37-A (newer). Versalogic part number for extended temperature version (with 1.2 GHz cores; standard on Seekurs) is VL-EBX-37-E (older) or VL-EBX-37-F (newer).

Standard version (VL-EBX-37-S and VL-EBX-37-A): Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 GHz dual-core, 32-bit CPU, 1066 MHz FSB, 3MB L2 Cache. Most Mamba computers are Standard version.

Extended temperature version (VL-EBX-37-E and VL-EBX-37-F): Intel Core 2 Duo 1.2 GHz dual-core, 32-bit CPU, 1066 MHz FSB, 3MB L2 Cache. Only some computers on Seekur robots are extended temperature version, unless specially requested on another robot.


Onboard ethernet are two Intel 82574IT based gigabit interfaces.

On Linux, J12 (top or right-hand port) is "eth0", the primary port. J15 (bottom or left port) is "eth1", the secondary port.

On Windows, J15 (bottom or left port) is "Local Area Connection". J12 (top or right port) is "Local Area Connection 2". Note that this is reversed from Linux.

By default, both interfaces are enabled, but one may be disabled in the BIOS.

The primary port (eth0, "Local Area Connection") is connected to the external ethernet port on the robot. The secondary port (eth1 or "Local Area Connection 2") is used for accessories such as laser rangefinder or camera. If a robot has multiple ethernet accessories, then an ethernet switch attached to the primary port is used instead for all connections.


Onboard graphics chipset is Intel GMA 4500 MHD (Intel Gen 5.0; DirectX 10 support; OpenGL 2.0 support; shader model 4.0; MPEG2 and H.264 support)

The Mamba has six onboard standard USB 2.0 ports, as well as support for a eUSB storage device.


The Mamba uses DDR3 SDRAM via two SO-DIMM sockets. The maximum is 8 GB. We provide 2 GB installed standard; additional RAM installed is optional.


The Mamba provides two SATA ports (3 GB/s). The typical storage device we install is a 2.5" solid state disk (SSD) (unless something else is specially ordered or you change it).


The Mamba provides a PCI bus via the PC-104+ form factor. Up to 4 PC-104+ cards may be stacked, depending on the available room within the robot. Some popular PC-104+ devices you may find on your computer are video framegrabber (connected to a camera), wireless ethernet interface, firewire, and others.

The Mamba also contains one mini PCIe card slot.

Serial I/O

The Mamba has 4 RS-232 serial port interfaces. In addition, COM3 and COM4 are RS-422 and RS-485 capable (configured in BIOS settings).

Note: COM3 and COM4 are 4-wire RS-232 interfaces which provide only transmit (pin 3), receive (pin 2), DTR (pin 4), and CTS (pin 8) as well as one ground (pin 5).

Analog I/O

Storage temperature is -40°C-85°C (-40° F to 185° F).

Operating temperature of standard board is 0°C-60°C (32° F to 140° F).

Operating temperature of extended temperature computer is -40°C to +85°C (-40° F to 185° F).
