Pioneer Camera Mounting Plate
From MobileRobots Research and Academic Customer Support
The Pioneer camera mounting plate is used to attach cameras and other items to Pioneer 3, PeopleBot, PowerBot and PatrolBot robot platforms.
The camera mounting plate has holes predrilled for attaching it to the top plate of the mobile robot (all of which have matching screw holes predrilled and tapped for M4 metric machine screws), or to the top of a Pioneer 3 or PeopleBot laser rangefinder mounting bracket. The camera mounting plate provides holes for attaching the Canon Pan/Tilt Camera accessory, as well as any camera with a standard camera 1/4"-20 tripod mounting hole, or a ball joint for positioning the orientation of such a camera, or any other sensor, device, or bracket that has a 1/4"-20 hole, by adding a 3/8" long flat head machine screw with 1/4"-20 threads. You may also modify this plate to mount devices without modifying the robot top plate.
The Pioneer camera mounting plate has part number MCH1062 and may be included with any robot order, or purchased after an order. Contact Support for more information about ordering a camera mounting plate. If you would like some 1/4"-20 screws included with the plate, please state so with your order. If you have a robot, mention its serial number so we can verify compatibility.
To attach the camera plate to a Pioneer 3, first remove the three screws indicated in the following figure using a 2mm allen key. Removal of the third rear screw is optional.
Next, attach your camera or other device using a 3/8" long 1/4"-20 thread flat-head screw. A ball joint is illustated in the following images.
Finally, attach the plate to the robot.
