Packing a Robot for Shipping
From MobileRobots Research and Academic Customer Support
What is the best way to pack a robot for shipping?
Always remove the batteries before shipping. It is best to detach and pack seperately as many accessories as possible, especially the camera and Pioneer Arm. Packing material should be placed on all sides, and underneath the robot between the wheels, to fully support the weight of the robot in case it is dropped -- the force can damage the axles. The original box and shaped foam padding in which the robot was shipped from MobileRobots is ideal.

If you are transporting your robot often, customizable cases are available from companies such as Pelican Cases, with handles, wheels, a hard plastic exterior, and foam interior that can be cut to the required shape. Again, don't forget to provide firm support to the bottom of the robot, between the wheels, not just resting on the wheels.
