The AmigoBot is the smallest and least expensive of the Pioneer line of mobile robots. It features similar microcontroller and firmware as other robots (with the same protocol), 8 sonar transducers, and differential drive motors with stall detection. It is usually controlled remotely via a wireless ethernet-serial bridge device: a program using ARIA or compatible control software runs on an offboard computer, and sends and receives commands and data to and from the AmigoBot over the wireless network. (In the past, other radio control and tether options have also been offered.)

The AmigoBot's microcontroller interfaces (control serial port, analog and digital I/O) are accessible through the hole in the top of the robot (remove the plastic plug or cover).
