About Download Access Permissions
Software and documentation downloads at this site are for MobileRobots research and development platforms. If you are a user of Adept/Motivity commercial applications, please contact your Adept/Motivity commercial support engineer.
Some software is available only to customers who purchased optional packages, and require the correct ID and password to download. An ID and password were supplied on the Account Information Sheet included with the robot. If you have lost your ID and password, Contact Support.
Downloads fall into three access categories:
- GENERAL ACCESS: download by anyone (ARIA, MobileSim, ACTS Demo, VisLib)
- USER ACCESS: licensed versions available for download by any MobileRobots user with a research customer ID and password (SONARNL, MobileEyes, Mapper3 Basic)
- RESTRICTED ACCESS: licensed versions available for download with research customer ID and password by those who have purchased a particular product (ARNL, licensed ACTS, etc.)
If you are a user of our RESEARCH robots and have lost your ID and password, Contact Support.
Core Software
These are the most commonly used software packages:
- ARIA
- Core development library for control of robot, accessories, and much more. Includes networking library.
- Unrestricted access
- ARNL, SONARNL and MOGS
- Development libraries for intelligent navigation and localization of robots, including ARNL laser localization, SONARNL sonar localization, and MOGS outdoor GPS localization.
- Any customer may download SONARNL, Restricted access for ARNL and MOGS.
- Mapper3
- Tool for processing and editing maps for use with ARNL laser localization and navigation, MobileSim, etc.
- Restricted access, not available to all customers.
- Mapper3Basic
- Tool for editing maps for use with SONARNL navigation, MobileSim, etc.
- Available to any customer.
- MobileEyes
- Remote user interface client application for monitoring, control, configuration and more.
- Available to any customer
- MobileSim
- Simulator software for use with ARIA, ARNL, SONARNL, or other software. Available to all customers.
- Unrestricted access
Microcontroller Firmware
Updates and configuration utilities for the robot's embedded firmware. (If you are wondering what the difference between SH and H8 systems are, read the explanation here)
Instructions on using the firmware utilities are in the READMEs and in the respective robot manuals.
If you are unsure which firmware your robot uses, contact support with the robot serial number.

- Firmware for the latest SH2-based Pioneer 3, PowerBot and PeopleBot
- uARCS
- Firmware for research PatrolBot, GuiaBot
- AmigOSH
- Firmware for the latest SH-based AmigoBots
- AROS
- Firmware for the older, H8-based Pioneer 2-DX and -AT robots
- AmigOS H8
- Firmware for the H8-based AmigoBot
- P2OS
- Firmware for the original C166-based Pioneer 2
- PSOS
- Firmware for the Pioneer 1

Optional Software and Accessory Support
These are less common software options, and software to support some optional accessories. For operating system drivers for computer cards etc. see Device Drivers.
- ACTS
- ACTS is a program that analyzes images from a video camera to detect contiguous regions (keyed by color, etc.), and provide the locations of those objects to other software (which can use ARIA to receive that information)
- Demo version is unrestricted; full-featured licensed version is restricted.
- Speech Synthesis and Recognition with Festival or Cepstral and Sphinx2
- Set of development libraries for speech recognition and synthesis.
- Basic versions available to any customer, Swift version is restricted
- ArPowerCube
- Development library for use with the PowerCube Pan/Tilt Unit and PowerCube-based manipulator arms (the PowerBot manipulator arm).
- Not available to all customers (must have purchased a PowerCube arm).
- Cyton Arm Software
- Software for use with the Energid Cyton, CytonII and Cyton Veta arms. Includes development libraries as well as the Actin user interface.
- Not available to all customers (must have purchased an arm)
- SAV
- Server program to read video images from framegrabber and provide images to local or remote clients (ARIA-compatible networking)
- Available to any customer
- VisLib
- General library for obtaining images from some video framegrabber devices and processing them (e.g. object tracking).
- Unrestricted access
- MobileRanger C3D Stereo Camera Software
- Drivers and libraries for use with the MobileRanger C3D Stereo Camera.
- Only available to customers who have purchased a MobileRanger C3D stereo camera.
- For The Old 5DOF Pioneer 2 Arm (not Cyton arms)
- P2/P3 Arm Demo GUI: Simple graphical demo program to operate the legacy 5DOF P2/P3 Arm (Available to any customer)
- ArAKin: Library that performs inverse kinematic control of the old Original 5DOF Pioneer Arm. (Basic positional control is available via ARIA.) (Not available to all customers; must have purchased package with ArAKin included).
- FHT Pioneer Arm Server and Applet: Program and Java UI for simple user control of the old Original Pioneer 5DOF Arm using the AKin inverse kinematics system. (Basic positional control is available via ARIA.) Only available to customers who purchased an arm with AKin included. (Not available to all customers; must have purchased package with ArAKin included).
Obsolete or Obscure Software, Firmware and Accessories
This software is either to support very old systems, or rare/obscure accessories, or has been replaced by a new software package above, only use these if you know you need them:
- LaserMapping
- Old tool for processing laser localization maps -- use Mapper3 instead.
